DRAMAtical murder is a bl visual novel (and apparently a phychological horror but it's more silly than anything else) first released March 12 2012 by Nitro+CHiRAL. This game contains graphic sex, violence and lots of other objectionable things (all though not the worst you will see in this epic tale) that would make it only for weird internet freaks (I'm the one making a whole websight about it I can say anything I want about the audience) and yet the storyline is so freaking insane that it somehow became mainstream not only being a staple for fujoshis at large but also the larger gaming community???
Along with the base game character spesific cd dramas were released for the four main characters Clear Mink Noiz and Koujaku. If you don't know what cd dramas are they are typically releasing with yaoi mangwas (dmmd is not a mangwa) and are just yaoi audiobooks (on my walktrhoughs page I have soundcloud links to the cd dramas) There was also three mangas released with subpar humor and uncomfortable morals about consent.
The origanal game file dmmd did not have enough space for all the storylines and voice acting developers had recorded so there was lots of cut content from the original game including Rens entire good and bad route. So when the base game was a hit they released DRAMAtical murder re:connect on April 23rd 2013, A game which had extentions to the end of every route and added Rens route which had the true ending for the game and lots of lore it it so it was very important and just further strengthened the lore that made everyone like this game in the first place. This game also came with the Trip and Virus routes which are probably the most violent and disturbing but they also provide insight into Aoba's teenage years and we learn more about Sly Blue. Along with re:connect came more cd dramas, these ones were pretty much sfw and followed each main route (except Virus and Trip) in three side stories, summer side story (beach day), velentines (they have some sort of issue with not knowing how to give chocolates because they are both men), and birthday stories. Mink has all those and also a bonus story. Then Virus and Trip have a backstory which is pretty similar to the info given in the game and also a white day story.
Re:connect was even more of a hit with it's insane plot line (in the true ending you get freaky with your dog in your brothers body) so it got an anime. So the dramatical murder anime came out on June 16 2014 and the fujoshis were disapointed and the gamers were bored. Yes the plot is insane, but compared to the original it was very tame, plus the voice acting was genuinly terrible the jokes didn't land and it in general was just terrible. And the worst sin of all THERE WAS ONLY TWO MOMENTS OF YAOI the bl visual novel adaptation only had one instance of yaoi and one was violent and not! pleasing to anyone the other one I found funny and was one of my favorite scenes in the game but many people do not share my opinion. But anyway the yaoi was lackluster no one liked the anime (except ironically watching it is funny, like the ghost stories dub except not at all)
And now winning the spot for the most insane part of the dmmd is DRAMAtical murder re:code, released for the NINTENDO SWITCH (and I haven't experienced because it isn't translated) BUT I KID YOU NOT THE GAME WITH YAOI JESUS IN IT IS AVAILABLE ON NINTENDO SWITCH. Because they decided that the storyling of dmmd was so good they made a version where they removed all the violence and all the yaoi and it was just the story and it's so so so funny. This game wasn't popular, cause young people were just buying the base game or re:connect if they were going to play it and fujoshis obviously didn't want the same game but without the yaoi, and gamers had either already played it or wanted to keep the original because the violence is so plot important and the yaoi is like haha funny gay and easy to advertise. But it also added a route for Aobas backstory and for Mizuki
